Here are brief
descriptions of the many courses we offer here at STEPS. There are 2 categories
below; DANCE & PERFORMING ARTS. The information is based on a general plan,
however, there are always special conditions and needs that may not fit the
criteria listed. We invite you to contact us at any time to discuss your
particular needs. We will do all we can to provide you with the very best in
instructional opportunities!

DANCE
PROGRAMS
| BABY STEPS |
6 to 18 months |

This class is
designed for "Mommy & Me" with an emphasis on motor skills and fun. |

| KINDER DANCE |

An introduction
to Basic Ballet and Tumbling, the child will work on their basic motor
skills, balance, coordination, and musicality, while developing group social
skills. |

| PRESCHOOL

Classes are a mixture of simple Tap steps and
rhythms which will increase the students musicality and balance, along with
beginning Ballet to create good muscular patterning and encourage creativity
while developing poise. |

| BASIC DANCE 1 |
4 to 6 year

Basic Ballet and Tap are the key elements. The
fundamentals of Contemporary and Jazz will also be introduced to familiarize
the student with another style of dance. At this level the students will
begin to explore the art of performance, as well as continuing technique
development and receiving an introduction to dance vocabularies. |

| INTERMEDIATE 2 |

Designed for the beginner dancer, or for those
needing a little push to get them caught up to other dancers of their same
age. Using the skills learned from Basic and infusing them with more
advanced techniques and skills, the student will quickly progress to a
higher level of expertise. |

| SECONDARY 3 |

At this level, classes will increase focus
on Ballet, Tap & Jazz that introduce a more dramatic level of dance. Ballet
and Jazz techniques are accelerated to enhance flexibility and discipline,
while more complex Tap rhythms and patterns will insure a well rounded
dancer. |

| PRE-TEEN |

Still stressing
the importance of Ballet , a bit more time will be spent focusing on Jazz
and Tap technique while striving to let the student spread their wings a
bit. Quicker Tap rhythms will be explored as well as the Jazz techniques of
Luigi and Gus Giordiano. |

This class strives for even further mastery of
Ballet, Jazz and Tap. Working on syncopated tap rhythms, expanded Jazz
style, posture improvement, techniques, more complex movements and the
application of variables affecting performance, this is the perfect class
for the advancing dancer and/or musical theatre performer. |

Going back to the basics, this is
the perfect class for the beginning dancer, or for anyone wishing to polish
up their technique. No prior dance experience is required. For everyone from
the serious dancer to those just looking to have fun, this class offers
strong fundamentals and focus on developing a more controlled and fit body. |

on point, this course requires evaluation and approval by the teacher to
insure the student's physical readiness, strength and abilities to "go up". |

Also known as "Lyric",
Contemporary dance will focus on technique, style, choreographic structure
and performance while exploring the creative process and execution of this
dramatic form of dance art. This class requires that it be taken in
conjunction with a Ballet class of the same level. |

coordination and musicality. |

for the more advanced tapper, designed to increase skills while perfecting
technique, musicality and performance. A core component of this class
focuses on choreography. |

introduce dancers to all of the necessary basics of Jazz |

Designed for the
intermediate level dancer, the class will focus on developing flexibility,
turns and styles of Jazz (such as Luigi and Gus Giordiano.) A strong
emphasis on performance will also be a major part of the curriculum. |

foundation of techniques, styles, choreography and performance, this is the
ideal class for the advanced dancer and/or professional. This class requires

instruction in how a musical is created form page to stage. |

about anyone interested in musical theatre. here you will learn the
techniques used by Broadway professionals in bringing a musical to life.

art of directing from one of the industries leading stage directors in this
intense and informative course. Everything from interpreting a script and
creating a concept for production to working with actors and collaborating
with the creative team will be covered. Finally, here is a class where you
can learn the inside information of exactly what a director does and tips on
how to build a career. |

| SCRIPT WRITING

Do you have a
great idea for a play, musical or movie? Learn how to develop and properly
structure your story, create interesting characters and understand how to
format your script. This course will cover everything from the use of
scriptwriting software to submitting your work to producers. This is how the
pros do it, and we have the class to teach you the correct process in
bringing your story to life. |
| AUDITION WORKSHOP |

An ongoing
workshop to help the performer make a better showing at auditions. In this
class we will work on song selection and music preparation, understanding
the song as a monologue, correct picture and resume formats and audition
protocol. This is the perfect opportunity to prepare for your next audition
in a structured and supportive environment. |
